More About Le Creuset

In French, Le Creuset means “crucible,” which reminds us of the how the factory crucible transforms iron into functional and beautiful cooking pieces. It also recalls how cookware serves as crucibles in our kitchens, transforming raw ingredients into the pleasure of a family meal.

Le Creuset's mission is to help you experience the joy of creating and sharing memorable meals.

In 1925, company founders Armand Desaegher and Octave Aubecq produced the first Le Creuset product, a cocotte or French oven. And in keeping with the company name, they gave it a flame orange enamel coating reminiscent of the crucible fires it came from.

That distinctive orange, graceful design and proven quality set Le Creuset apart from the beginning. Over the decades, the company expanded its offerings to include Dutch ovens, sauté pans, woks, bakers, tea kettles and more.

The color set has expanded from the original flame orange to include black onyx, slate, granite, cactus and citron. There are also the gradated colors of cherry, dune (off-white), cobalt and kiwi.

Aside from the traditional cast iron, Le Creuset produces cookware in stainless steel, stone, silicone, enameled steel and hard-anodized aluminum. The cast iron pieces are still manufactured at the company’s original foundry at Fresnoy-le-Grand, in northern France.

Nibblins is proud to partner with this highly respected brand. The consistent quality and beautiful designs of Le Creuset pieces enhance the joy of cooking and help our favorite dishes turn out delicious every time.
